The twelfth House

The twelfth house is the most difficult to describe because it contains areas which aren´t usually discussed. Keep in mind that this is the last house in the system of houses and represents the succession of a developmental process. Here the ego and the individual dissolve to further a strong sense of community. Simultaneously we withdraw ourselves from society, prepare for death or for the unification with a 'Superior Being'. The twelfth house stands for the concept of isolated deep inner contemplation; usually this is possible in institutions such as prisons and hospitals, where one is subjected to some form of restriction. Other keywords are self-sacrifice, compassion, karma and mystic inspiration. This house corresponds to the sign Pisces and the planets Neptune and Jupiter.
