The Imum Coeli and the fourth House

The IC, the opposite of the MC(Midheaven), is found at the lowest point of the chart, the beginning of the fourth house. It is also referred to as Nadir. It symbolizes the suppressed side of the personality which is expressed openly in the early childhood. It is here that we find our roots, our home and emotions which are rarely expressed. Also the nature of our relationships to our parents can be deducted at this point. Generally the IC stands for the subconscious. The fourth house symbolizes our relationship to our family, especially to our parents, home and the traditions we grew up with, our suppressed emotions, the emotional basis and our need for care and protection. The sign Cancer and the Moon correspond to the fourth house.
